ITB Start Week Update

At ITB, we have a culture that we pride very much. A culture that has evolved the working relationship between our programmers to a higher level of understanding between us. On Monday mornings, we hold a briefing. In this briefing, everyone gets to talk. We put a timer for 2 minutes though it is hard to restraining guys like Moses from speaking for almost 6 minutes, but remember, we do not crucify. So I will break down what everyone had to say for this week.
Julius Siyego
He had a good weekend where he learnt all about trust. He realized that trust is not something that just happens overnight, it gets cultivated over time. We often tend to forget that our parents are also humans, people who would love to be listened to. Julius realized how his mother was hilarious in more ways than one. This realization came when he wished her a “happy mother’s day.”

From having a chilled out man talk and being prodded over about a girl – hints that he should get a girlfriend, he realized that his mother was much more than he had known. Let’s all learn from Julius and give our folks the chance to be real with us. “We should always be willing to give people the chance of being real with us.”

Onesmus “the quiet one”
If you ever thought that he was quiet, wait until he gets a chance to crack a joke or make a point. He hits a homerun every time and never disappoint in jokes- we cringe in laughter from surprise jokes he makes. He met with his college friends over the weekend and learnt about money. Well we all think that we know about money, but he wanted to find out why we are all chasing it, what is the purpose of it all? A very valid search owing to the fact that we always want more money but does it really entail getting happiness in the same proportion? He also learnt the basic definition of an asset and a liability. “An asset is anything that adds money to your pocket while a liability is anything that removes money from your pocket.” He is an avid church goer and believes that life is all about the continuous creation of our future.

Moses “kadunga”
A family man to the very core of his mettle. Enjoyed his work on Saturday as well all had something to drink as we were working. He met a friend over the weekend and he realized that software development and business were quite different. He saw how a revolution had started between business and software where the two were integrated to the extent where one would now confuse them. He encouraged us to trim our skills and always embrace business ethics for what is business without standards?

He also got a massive lecture by a long lost friend who discovered that he was emitting negative energy from the status he had on WhatsApp. She realized that Moses was enduring tough times but was rather apprehensive of keeping positive attitude above the negative ones.

So Moses encourages us to always stay positive. “A shift in mind set goes a long way in encouraging happiness.” We therefore hope that he did not break his back when he had to carry a grandfather and a grandmother across a river. Kudos man.

Brian “happiness series”
He is always encouraging people to be happy. To always find happiness in oneself and not wait for someone to come out and serve you a hot plate of “happiness, joy and elation.” Brian also stated how he had a good weekend and realized that “if you have nothing good to say, don’t say anything.” He had a friend over too and so I get to realize that weekends are good for having friends over. He bamboozled us with a contradicting statement that left us discussing for a while.

He mentioned that we should not find happiness in things but we will find it in people. We offered insights in how he confused the hell out of “his followers of happiness series.” He insisted that we should always focus on happy people and keep a safe distance from people who were not happy. “Be responsible for the good things in your life.”

So this were the insights that our team shared. We always share what we learn for what will knowledge hoarded benefit a man? A candle does not lose its flame when it lights another. From the wonderful ideas and thoughts that have been presented, be sure to catch the next articles inspired by the team. Have a great week ahead.

8 Simple Ways To Classroom Collaboration

The Collaborative Classroom is a model that honors all teachers and supports all students with intentional, field-tested practices that create safe environments. In Collaborative Classrooms, teachers facilitate an authentic exchange of ideas and children learn to become caring, principled people as well as thoughtful, disciplined learners. Teachers who use the Collaborative Classroom model make an intentional shift from having a classroom where they do the majority of the talking to constructing a learning situation and then facilitating it through student thinking and talking. Teachers are increasingly using digital tools to stay ahead of today’s digitally literate students. Here are eight ways they’re harnessing technology for collaborating with students, both in the classroom and online: 1. Digital Projectors – A LCD projector allows teachers to share digital content with students. The beauty of the digital projector is its versatility—it works with any digital ...

Time flies and welcomes exams.

If ever there was a time to realize that time flies, it’s now. Well, the stores are not doing any of us favor when they brand their polyethene bags with Christmas trees or the mall putting up Christmas lights. Yes, the year is almost coming to a close and this is the only time we can realize that time flies. In January, we were all wondering how the year will punch us right back. Remember trying to come up with some list of things we’d like to change. How many have we achieved so far? Time is given in equal measure and quantity. If ever there was a gift more powerful than time, then all would be in vain. Many sayings have been coined with time. “Time is money”, “give time time”, “time waits for no man” and so many more. They all mean the same. That time is a very important aspect of life and we really need to understand this. In all its measure and wonder, we are still yet to fathom its meaning let alone its discipline. Philosophy aside, this post was dedicated to the ...

How to have a long-lasting relationship.

We are all in the pursuit of happiness in one way or another whether we realize it or not. Regardless of our situation, we are always looking to find happiness in every little bit of parameters of life whether it is in our relationships, job or family just to mention a few. One of the key components of happiness in life is the ability to have long lasting relationship that make sense and provide us with some sense of feeling of love which can translate into happiness altogether. Long lasting relationships are difficult to cultivate and there are a few reasons why. That notwithstanding, we need to find out how we can have a long lasting relationship regardless of the barriers and if the barriers exist, how we can overcome them and maintain a long fruitful and lasting relationship. A long lasting relationship is cultivated, nurtured and nourished by both partners. Imagine a relationship like a small plant that needs to be watered, provided enough sunlight, provided with enough nutri...
