Plato in our midst.

Our start week update just even got better. When you have such a team of “life- curious individuals”, they tend to rub on some little knowledge on you. We have always been at the fore front in engaging our users as well as our avid readers and this week is no different. In fact, I think we have more to gain by sharing the little knowledge we have. I do not mean to belittle the expertise that our team has, but I believe that we as still further away from the ultimate knowledge we seek. However, let me pick your brain.

Brian had an OK weekend. Seemingly he decided to change the script by being nocturnal- sleeping the whole day and “hunting for code” during the night. He actually claimed to enjoy the freedom that was bestowed to him but at times we question if loneliness can really be called freedom. No harm in pointing out that. He had immense psych for the coming week and he couldn’t tell why he was happy.

He had a change of mind shift I guess and we all accepted his duck sense of humor (pun intended). He fervently pointed out that “we should accept our mistakes since some mistakes define who we are while others don’t.” So far, he claims that he has learnt the virtue in dealing with people and situations which has made him a better person than before.

Onesmus on the other hand had a ‘ME’ weekend where he described this as a weekend where he had introspection. Yes, some of us had to look up the word and we found out it means “the examination or observation of one's own mental and emotional processes.” Say thanks, I saved you the trip to Google. He had time to re-evaluate the past 6 months to measure his growth and inner self spirit. This was very encouraging and he went on to add that “when we want to solve a problem, we should not have the same mentality that we had when we created the problem.” Adding on to such philosophical words, (now we call him Plato) he says that we should not focus on the don’t wants rather we should focus on the wants. So he cultured a rule to always pay himself first such that he cannot be indebted. Another being that our bills should always encourage us to work harder and we should not use our savings to pay our bills. Well, this guy is giving me a run for my money.

Julius, always had an eventful weekend. Unfortunately for him this time, the clouds did not rain meatballs. He also had a reflection of the work life in ITB. This prompted him to describe everyone in the team. So this are his explicit thoughts about everyone; Moses- one who always encouraging learning where you should learn a skill over and over again until you become a master of it.

Brian- always encouraging people to try something new and enjoy life through being happy. Onesmus- lives and breathes his mantra of finishing something small before doing the bigger things and doing everything perfectly at the right time. Julius believes that “we always see somethings as impossible right up to the moment someone else does it.” He encourages us to be the ones that make the impossible seem possible.

Moses took to the podium with a show of his new phone capability of video recording. (Yes there is a recorded session of the meeting). He mentioned his passion for the team and the work we are doing. Being more experienced than everyone in the team, he was glad for he felt like a bigger candle relying on smaller candles to illuminate the darkest of nights. He had an inspirational Friday. His moment of brilliance came when he mentioned that “we should use our eyes to give us a clue, our brains to figure out a solution and our hearts to guide the direction.” He believes that if we all used our hearts there would be little to talk about tribalism, the menace that engulfs the very core of this nation. He finished by saying that we needed to have a philosophy of achieving something every week.

Given the words offered by our team, I was humbled and I came to realize that we have very passionate and inspiring individuals. Come to think of it, we all have some Plato in us. All in all, this week has started out well and as a team, we would like you to keep in touch with us. From all members of ITB, we say, do have a Klippy week!!

8 Simple Ways To Classroom Collaboration

The Collaborative Classroom is a model that honors all teachers and supports all students with intentional, field-tested practices that create safe environments. In Collaborative Classrooms, teachers facilitate an authentic exchange of ideas and children learn to become caring, principled people as well as thoughtful, disciplined learners. Teachers who use the Collaborative Classroom model make an intentional shift from having a classroom where they do the majority of the talking to constructing a learning situation and then facilitating it through student thinking and talking. Teachers are increasingly using digital tools to stay ahead of today’s digitally literate students. Here are eight ways they’re harnessing technology for collaborating with students, both in the classroom and online: 1. Digital Projectors – A LCD projector allows teachers to share digital content with students. The beauty of the digital projector is its versatility—it works with any digital ...

Time flies and welcomes exams.

If ever there was a time to realize that time flies, it’s now. Well, the stores are not doing any of us favor when they brand their polyethene bags with Christmas trees or the mall putting up Christmas lights. Yes, the year is almost coming to a close and this is the only time we can realize that time flies. In January, we were all wondering how the year will punch us right back. Remember trying to come up with some list of things we’d like to change. How many have we achieved so far? Time is given in equal measure and quantity. If ever there was a gift more powerful than time, then all would be in vain. Many sayings have been coined with time. “Time is money”, “give time time”, “time waits for no man” and so many more. They all mean the same. That time is a very important aspect of life and we really need to understand this. In all its measure and wonder, we are still yet to fathom its meaning let alone its discipline. Philosophy aside, this post was dedicated to the ...
